MLM Leads

MLM leads are the lifeblood of your business.  Without prospective clients, customers, and business partners – let’s face it: your mlm business is dead or dying.  But what mlm leads should you buy?  Where should you get them?  What is a fair price for them?  OR is buying leads altogether just a bad idea?  Let’s look at this concept as a whole.

First of all, I’m not totally against buying leads.  I used to be against it because I discovered some of their mlm leads sources.  One example would be “sneaky” co-registration emails where some readers don’t realize they’re subscribing to multiple people’s newsletters at once.  I NEVER wanted to buy leads that were junk.  So, like I said, I fought against buying leads for a while, until I realized a few things:

  1. You need to find the best companies to work with that have been around a while and know what they’re doing.  The last thing you want is to buy a bunch of leads from a fly-by-night company.
  2. MLM Lead Companies couldn’t stay in business unless their leads were high enough quality to sustain sales.  If every rep got into a company and failed, the leads company wouldn’t be around either.  So there ARE good quality leads out there – you just need to know where to look.
  3. IMPORTANT:: When you start sponsoring people into your business that CAN’T create their own leads (yet), giving them an option to buy leads is still a good way to help them grow their business NOW while they learn how to create their own leads.

And it looks like I accidentally just gave away my biggest “secret”, which is the BEST way to get mlm leads: create your own.

How?  You need to learn marketing.  It sounds harder than it actually is, but it’s not only relatively simple… it’s VITAL to your business.  Let me walk you through 2 examples.

In the first example, you buy leads from a leads company.  Looking online right now, I found a site that sells leads and their biggest package is 200 leads every month for $679 (or $3.40 per lead).  Now, let’s analyze this lead: they don’t know who you are, they don’t know what company you’re with, and if you call them up you’d better have some good selling skills because they KNOW you’re calling to sell them something.  And that’s not usually a “positive” for you because now you’re just another cold-caller.

On average, let’s say you sponsor 3% of those leads (not alot, but I’m just assuming you’re not great at sales).  That’s 6 new business partners in your business.  How much money did you profit in that?  If make less than $113 per person, you just lost money.  And with most mlm companies, you’re only making $30-$50 per sale.  With a direct sales company, you could make anywhere from $200-$1000+, but your conversions will go down because now people have to pay at LEAST that amount to get involved.  The higher the cost, the less people will buy.

Typically these leads won’t be a high quality, AND you’re losing money.  Not a good combination.

Let’s look at this another way:

  1. You learn some simple marketing techniques that send people to your site for as little as 15 cents per visitor (YES, this is easily possible).
  2. 1000 visitors costs you $150, and out of those 1000 visitors you get 200 leads.  Of course your numbers could be different, but this is just an example.
  3. These 200 leads are TARGETED because your ad is going to TARGET a specific kind of person (entrepreneurial).  These leads go to YOUR website, so when they optin they know who you are and what business you’re promoting!  There’s already a trust and a personal relationship you have there, and you haven’t even spoken with them yet!
  4. Because of this relationship, personal branding techniques, and attraction marketing strategies, your 3% conversion rate should go sky high.  But let’s say it stays at 3% and you still sponsor 6 new people.  Where you might have made $113 per person before and BARELY broke even…  In this case you’ve made $679-150 in marketing = over a $500 profit!!  (see why I LOVE marketing!?)
